TMC Peace is a holistic wellness company that specializes in anxiety management, stress management, and relaxation therapy. To this end, TMC Peace creates digital wellness relaxation content and in-person breath-work, meditation, and sound bath experiences. 

TMC Peace is on track to add holistic wellness coaching, mental health therapy services, and a merchandise and product line to the company over the next three years. 

TMC Peace seeks to serve people from all walks of life, but is intentional about creating a safe wellness space for Black and Indigenous People of Color who have often been underrepresented in wellness spaces. 
 

TMC Peace also operates the Victorious Community Breathing Fund which allows TMC Peace to offer scholarships to in-person experiences, community classes, and digital wellness relaxation content that anyone can access for free.

Our Story

Telana’s Wellness Journey:

 

Hello, my name is Telana! I am the founder and owner of TMC Peace.

 

On January 16, 2017, I experienced the most challenging day of my life. I was under overwhelming stress and woke up out of my sleep with a feeling of heavy impending doom. My mind was racing extremely fast. I felt like my brain was about to burst. This wasn't the first time this happened to me, but this time, it was one hundred times more intense. I went to the emergency room, where they stabilized me and told me that I was experiencing an anxiety (panic) attack.

 

I've dealt with chronic anxiety since I was a child. I was very anxious and afraid of things most children close to me were not concerned about. I can recall several times that I didn't sleep through the night because I was battling with my anxiety. My mind continuously ran to the worst-case scenarios in the future. This continued in my young adulthood when I started having regular life-disrupting nocturnal panic attacks like the one I described above.

 

During that panic attack episode in January 2017, a paramedic looked me in the eyes and said, “You just need to breathe.” I realize now that he meant that I needed to be intentional about finding and connecting to my breath so that I could calm my mind and body.

 

Since that time, I’ve been on a journey to learn natural ways to connect to my breath and manage my anxiety while working through stressful situations. I started this natural healing journey with content I found on YouTube. I then went on to find relief in various mindfulness practices like yoga, meditation, breath work, therapy, affirmations, and wellness experiences that have nourished my mind, body, and soul. Out of all of these things, breathwork has helped me the most. I regularly practice breathwork, manage my anxiety, and haven’t had a panic attack since January 2017.

 

Now, I am sharing what I’ve learned with others who need help managing the stress and anxiety in their lives through TMC Peace. Last year, I served as a volunteer mindfulness teacher in San Francisco public schools where I taught a group of first graders the practice of using our breath to focus our minds and bodies to make good choices.  And, in October 2023, I graduated from the Academy of Breath Breath-work and meditation teacher certification program where I learned so many new breathwork and meditation tools.

 

I have created TMC Peace to house a safe and comfortable place to share powerful mindfulness tools with others. As I mentioned, I have experience with mindfulness teaching and have my breath-work & meditation teaching certification. Additionally, my partner has  had a strong meditation practice for years, goes to therapy, and is in graduate school to become a licensed mental health therapist. I am very proud of my partner for taking this step and being an example of a man taking care of his mental health and continuing to build his emotional intelligence.

 

We are excited about creating this nourishing peace studio! We host private and public breath-work, meditation, and sound bath workshops. We also create digital relaxation and anxiety management content. We also have the Victorious Community Breathing Fund which provides experience scholarships, community classes, and free digital wellness relaxation content. We continue to learn more about wellness and stress/anxiety management to help as many people as I can.  All of these services are open to everyone, and we have especially created a safe space for Black and Indigenous People of Color like us and other diverse groups that have been historically marginalized and have felt unwelcome and underrepresented in wellness spaces. As a Black woman, I’ve personally experienced this unwelcome feeling. Because of those experiences, I am very intentional about being in wellness spaces that welcome diverse groups of people.

 

We recently hosted a breathwork, meditation, and sound bath experience where I led the breathwork and sound bath portions and my partner lead the meditation portion. All of those who attended reported that the experience was excellent and helped them experience  more peace. We are just getting started and are excited about what is to come…
